Kia Ora and Salaams,
My name is Hakimeh. I was born and raised in Ghazni, Afghanistan but have been living in my adopted country, New Zealand for the last 15 years. I am a daughter, sister, friend, dreamer, coffee lover, hiker, and a student for life.
I hold a Master of Science degree in Biochemistry/Genetics from the University of Otago. My dream is to further my education into a Ph.D., to advance my specialized training, qualification, and experience that I ultimately use to improve people’s live and have a positive impact on the world as well as being a role model for women with similar background as mine.
I also have a strong passion for community work and supporting people. For the past 3 years I have been helping refugees and migrants facing challenges to integrate into New Zealand society.
I feel privileged to work alongside my brothers, and sisters in faith, and in humanity under the guidance of Kaupapa Māori service.
